Ken captures the details of his subject matter with stunning detail in both oil and acrylic

Introduction

Hello. Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Ken Wilson and I am an artist residing in upstate New York. I create fresh, vibrant, detailed oil paintings  that capture the essence of my subject matter, primarily landscapes and seascapes

My Work

My work captures the mood and drama of my subject matter, especially with my plein air painting. There's nothing like heading out into the open air to capture the focus of a scene that means a lot to me. I am also known for the meticulous detail that I put into my equine work, which is very special to me.

Feel free to look through my portfolio for a sample of my work. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Approach

I think of my work as a dichotomy of dynamic, contrasting styles, varying at times between representational and impressionistim.  My primary focus is on both studio and plein air landscape painting. I have numerous collectors across the nation and as far away as Australia!

Another aspect of my personality that comes to fore in my work is my meticulous attention to detail. I strive to achieve work that evokes emotion in my viewers.  It is the delicate waltz between movement, light and shadow. Notice the drama fluidity through many transitions from the darkest to the highest highlights in all of my work. I work from dark-to-light, refining subtleties along the way to the finished piece.

I have always been fascinated and influenced by the works of the Old Masters, as well as the landscape artists of the Hudson River School. I think that is evident in my work. I have painted with and studied under some of the finest oil painters of our time, including Stapleton Kearns, T.M. Nicholas, George Van Hook,  C.W Mundy, and many others.

I deeply appreciate your visit to my website and viewing a sample of my work. I am grateful.

Best Regards,

Ken Wilson, American Artist
